Body Therapy Guide
Massage therapy can be known as manual manipulation of the soft body tissues enhancing people’s health. Some of these soft tissues are the tendons, ligaments, connective tissues, and muscles. People look for massage therapy for reasons like to reduce stress, relax muscles, headaches, sports injuries, digestive reasons among other reasons. However, massage therapy may not be appropriate for people with fractures, healing wounds, bleeding disorders among other medical conditions. Types of massage therapy are two main types which are the relaxation massage therapy which is mainly practiced in spas, resorts and other centers. There is also rehabilitative massage therapy which is practiced in places such as hospitals. Relaxation massage is also called the Swedish massage. Rehabilitative massage is also clinical massage or medical massage.
Unlike massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy uses firm pressure and slow strokes for reaching deepest muscle layers, tendons and also the connective tissues which surround the muscles, joints and bones known as fascia. It is usually used for chronic aches. It is used to break down muscle adhesions which could disrupt circulation and bring about inflammation and also a pain. Light pressure is initially applied to the muscles to warm them up then some specific techniques are then applied. These techniques include friction where some pressure is applied to the muscles, stripping where deep pressure is applied along the length of the muscles using thumbs, elbows, and arms.
Deep tissue therapy is advantageous since it mainly concentrates on specific problems such as immobility, recovery from injuries, postural problems, low back pains, and also injury rehabilitation. Deep tissue massage provides relief from stress which may be due to work or other tasks. People with medical conditions such as blood clots should avoid participating in deep tissue massage therapy. An example of a side effect which is caused by deep tissue massage therapy is bruising.
Reflexology can be said to be the application of pressure to specific points on the feet and hands with specific techniques. By manipulating specific points on the feet and hands, reflexologist relieve tension in the body. In reflexology the body is divided into ten vertical zones which are equal, five on the left and five on the right. It is assumed that pressure applied on the feet may transmit signals to the nervous system which may stimulate the nervous system to release chemicals which can reduce stress or pain. Reflexology is not used as to cure health disorders but its main use is to complement other types of treatment for conditions such as cancer treatment, headaches, diabetes, kidney illnesses and also asthma.
Some advantages of reflexology include eliminating toxins, cleaning up the urinary tract conditions, speeding up recovery, stimulating nerve functions and also boosting circulation.
